A textbook is a crucial part of almost every class, but with prices that are often $150 per book or more, and with multiple courses per term — these costs add up quickly.

For many students, affording the necessary textbooks for their courses can be a serious and stressful barrier to success.

A textbook might seem like a small thing — but for many, it can mean the difference between falling behind and getting ahead. That’s why the program Textbooks for All is so important — giving students free access to essential textbooks through the Dr. John Archer Library.

The impact is clear: since the launch of Textbooks for All in 2019, students have accessed these crucial learning resources more than 197,000 times. It’s a lifeline for those of us who would otherwise go without. But the initial funds that launched Textbooks for All are nearly gone.

Please give today to help students access the textbooks they need to succeed.

I hope you're all well! As we move quicky towards the holiday season and a new year in 2026, it's difficult to believe that 2025 is almost behind us. What a fabulous time to reflect on the many opportunities and accolades our beloved institution, the University of Regina, has afforded alumni this past year, as well as in the fifty years since the university was established.

I have had the great privilege of being affiliated with the U of R for nearly thirty years; as an undergrad, then completing a graduate degree and now having the great honour of representing University alumni.

It's a delight to be a member of the University of Regina Alumni Association (URAA), a magnificently talented group with a diverse skillset and wealth of knowledge in their respective realms. We are grateful to partner with the energetic and industrious Alumni Engagement Office, and others at the University, in offering endorsements, event and group sponsorships, professional development prospects, and resources for students and alumni worldwide.

With global alumni exceeding 95,000, University of Regina graduates can be lauded for their first-class achievements in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and beyond. Students, alumni, faculty, employees and affiliates of the university are consistently praised for contributions in academics, research, sport, and their communities across the globe.

Although the U of R is well-known for this exhilarating progress over the past fifty years, it is so much more. It is a deep-seated connection to the identity of those who live, study, work and play here. It has earned a place in the heart and soul of all those it has touched, provided comfort and inclusion, collaboration and inspiration, grounding and wings.

As we hurtle towards 2026, I am ever keen on witnessing how the incredible institution, and all those under its' umbrella, forge a path in the next fifty years and beyond.

Respectfully,
Jennifer Murray, B.A. '03, B.Ed. '05, M.Admin. '22
President, University of Regina Alumni Association
